Dear Fellows and Alumni:
After years of hard work, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) has become Taiwan’s first national university to establish a Department of Chinese Medicine. It will enroll its first class of students in September of this year. Chinese medicine has now become an essential part of life. In response to the new era’s rapid changes, artificial intelligence is introduced to cultivate cross-disciplinary Chinese medicine talents in clinical, education, scientific research and policy with globalization, among other things, and will become the “new Chinese medicine physician” of a new generation. This department expects to stay true to the spirit of “sincerity of great medicine” and plans four major areas of special academic cluster courses, including Chinese medicine physician-scientists, Chinese medicine physician-engineers, Chinese medicine physician with family and long-term care medical talents, and Chinese medicine physician with policy and globalization talents for the Department of Chinese Medicine. Students can choose to become “new Chinese medicine physicians” with cross-disciplinary skills. However, given a growing competition for higher education resources and very limited financial resources, the school urgently require careful planning and adequate funding to sustain schools in order to create a good teaching and research environment for Chinese medicine.
To improve the teaching environment, the department continues to promote the development of numerous major activities as well as the strengthening of various software and hardware equipment in order to cultivate the very best “new Chinese medicine physicians”. We hereby invite every sector of the community to make generous contributions to support the future development of the Department of Chinese Medicine at NYCU. We have established the “Department of Chinese Medicine Development Fund” to be devoted to matters related to teaching, research, and department development, including space planning and renovation, scholarships and bursaries, purchase of teaching and research software and hardware equipment, invitation of foreign educators and visiting scholars, and teacher stipulation. Students visit Chinese medicine-related institutions and participate in clerkships/internships both domestically and abroad.
We will face new challenges and will require the support and resources of enthusiastic alumni, businesses, and community members. We anticipate that people from every aspect of society will inspire us to move forward and support the development of the Department of Chinese Medicine at NYCU, as well as the education of Chinese Medicine talents in our school, through tangible donations. To cultivate education, the Department of Chinese Medicine will use every donation thoughtfully to effectively execute the department’s educational philosophy – the Department of Chinese Medicine’s growth requires your efforts! Your support and feedback will be the driving force behind our advancement and talent development.
您的支持與回饋將是我們持續向前與教育英才的動力。
